Your strength coach/personal trainer, Matt Carlin, is a degree qualified physical performance specialist with a high level of discipline and professionalism derived from 12 years in the ranks of the Australian Army.
Matt developed a keen professional interest in athlete strength & conditioning after completing his Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coaching course with ASCA. Following his career in the Australian Army, Matt was heavily involved in the 12 month elite physical development and performance of 2009 QLD Cup Rugby League premiers – Sunshine Sea Eagles. Following the premiership win, Matt took on a 3 month stint as their Head Strength & Conditioning Coach whilst also developing the training programs and coaching the U16 & U18 Sunshine Coast Rugby League Development Squads. He has also devoted many volunteer hours working with local sporting clubs to improve the mobility, fitness and strength of many junior athletes.
Matt also just recently spent some time training with the Australian Rugby Wallabies benefiting from receiving personalised coaching and mentoring from one of the world’s best strength & conditioning coaches, Ashley Jones.
Matt has an extensive sporting background where he has competed at state level and represented ACT Army in soccer. He also competed in Olympic Distance Triathlon for 5 years completing Mooloolaba and Noosa in competitive times. He has specific first hand knowledge in surfing, triathlon, hockey, soccer, martial arts and squash. Matt has been an avid Rugby League fan since childhood and has been directly involved in junior rugby league coaching and strength & conditioning over the past 5 years. His enthusiasm for the ocean & with over 20 years of surfing experience, he has also developed an interest in creating strength & conditioning programs for junior surfers.
